Synthetic Underlayment

The photos above feature our crew stripping down a roof to wood decking and installing a new synthetic underlayment. Roofing underlayment is a barrier that helps preserve the overall roofing system. It is essential.
There are many kinds of underlayment for different types of projects. Differences may vary when looking into underlayment’s. Some may include: how water resistant (remember this does not mean waterproof!), protection from decking, vapor protection, temporary protection (in case there is a storm). These variables play into the decision making process along with where you live, how big your project is, and how big your budget it.

One the project above we used synthetic underlayment. We recommend this to many customers because It is a water and vapor resistant underlayment that is much lighter and stronger than other underlayment’s. Synthetic was made to replace felt underlayment and has been a great product for many.

  1. Always used felt paper for underlayment mostly, have been hearing a lot about synthetic underlayment and you are also vouching for it, I will give it a try in one of my next projects, if the client agrees to it and take it from there.
